FORMALS DON'T HAVE TO BE FORMAL.

I specialise in capturing those split second candid moments of joy, excitement and anticipation at weddings. It truly does take all of my concentration to hone in on the atmosphere and spot those situations which make for a special photograph. For this reason, the time in the day set aside for directed shots tends to be short and sweet.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEACUP.

One photographer I take a lot of influence from is Garry Winogrand. With his often seemingly haphazard arrangement of his subjects shot using a wide-angle lens, his pictures frequently appear to be driven by the energy of the events he was witnessing. 

So when you see me looking intently round the room whilst shooting at a wedding, it's because I am looking for images like this.

PICTURE OF THE DAY!

Something lovely happened to me today. The Wedding Community chose one of my photographs as their Picture of the Day. Hurray! All photographs featured as Picture of the Day will later be voted for by readers and a Picture of the Month will be chosen. At the end of the year all 12 Pictures of the Month will then be voted for and a Picture of the Year will be chosen. Exciting!

SWEETS AND SMOKE BOMBS

Engagement shoots are a great idea for all involved. For the couple in question, it’s a chance to get to know your photographer a little better and see the way they work. It’s a chance to get used to the idea of being photographed before your big day. For the photographer, it’s a great chance to find out a bit more about your couple and see how they interact with each other. It is also a brilliant opportunity to be creative and try things…well… a little bit different.

MY YEAR IN PICTURES

Thanks to all you lovely couples from 2011. I had such great year photographing you all and have been blown away by the feedback I’ve received. What a rush!
